Luxinnovation and the Ministry of Culture, Higher Education and Research are organizing a workshop on ARTES 1 (Advanced Research in Telecommunication Systems), the European Space Agency (ESA) programme for preliminary studies and investigations in the field of satellite communications. This event, which is organized within the AeroSpace Cluster initiative, will be held on Friday, 21 September 2007 from 10:00 to 12:00.
The European Commission outlined new plans to accelerate the drive for safer, cleaner and smarter cars. The Commission will start negotiations with European and Asian automotive industry associations later this year to reach an agreement on offering the pan-European in-vehicle emergency call system (eCall) as a standard option in new cars from 2010. It will also further promote the take-up of other life-saving technologies and investigate how technology can help make cars greener and smarter.
Nanotechnology is predicted to affect over a trillion dollars worth of products within the next 5 to 10 years. However new training and skills are required, and many Universities are now offering Masters Courses in nanotechnology. It has been difficult for prospective students and industrial employers to compare what different courses can offer in terms of competences. 7 Universities have already taken advantage of the European Nanotechnology Recognition Scheme to promote their courses. .../...
