Substantial progress on innovation in Europe

The 2008 European Innovation Scoreboard shows the EU making substantial progress in its innovation performance preceding the financial crisis. The relative innovation gap with the US and Japan was reduced, in particular amid strong progress by many new Member States such as Cyprus, Romania and Bulgaria. Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and the Netherlands are the Innovation followers, with innovation performance below those of the innovation leaders but above that the EU average.

The FNR announces a new call for proposals for its thematic research programme CORE. CORE is the FNR´s thematic research programme based on the outcomes of the FNR Foresight Exercise. CORE´s prime objective is to foster scientific quality of Luxembourg public research, in a set of selected research areas.
