The Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster is an active network that supports the various actors of the eco-technologies sector in Luxembourg with the goal of creating and developing new and sustainable business opportunities through collaborative R&D and innovation projects.

The take-up of green technologies is empowered by an ambitious action plan, which Luxembourg has recently adopted in order to stimulate the production of eco-technology products and to support research and development in the environmental technologies field, thereby leading to greater sustainability and economic diversification.

The members of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster are active in many different areas such as:

  • eco-construction/eco-materials
  • renewable and alternative energies (biomass, biogas, photovoltaics…)
  • eco-design/eco-conception
  • rational use of energy

The overall objective of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster is to reinforce the competitive advantage of the Luxembourg companies active in the field of eco-technologies and sustainable construction. The specific missions of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster are to:

  • diversify the activities of the Luxembourg companies thus allowing them to gain and to develop new capabilities in the field eco-technologies
  • contribute to the development of new environmental solutions in the field of eco-technologies and sustainable construction
  • raise the public awareness for the uptake of "green technologies"
  • build public-private partnerships in order to develop new collaborative projects of common interest
  • encourage the networking between public and private actors on the national and the international level.

One flagship project of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster is the sustainable urbanisation project "Schmelz" which aims at transforming the industrial wasteland of former steelworks in the city of Dudelange into an eco-district.

The membership of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster is open to companies, public research institutes and organisations that are active in the field of eco-innovation technologies and are based in Luxembourg. However, any other company or organisation outside of Luxembourg is invited to register for receiving regular information about events and news of the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster.
