Main axes of research
EVA develops both fundamental and applied research projects whose purpose is to manage natural resources and assist decision-makers for environmental issues. The research in this area involves organisms that play a central role in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, both natural and artificial (wastewater treatment plants, reactors, etc.). The projects examine the ecological, eco-toxicological or taxonomic aspects of these organisms, depending on the issues raised.
Research subjects:
- Diversity of living communities and bio-indication of the ecological status of natural or heavily modified ecosystems
- Nature conservation
- Eco-toxicology of fresh waters
- Microbial ecology
- Risk assessment and management of microbiological hazards
Application domains
- Environmental monitoring
- Ecological restoration
- Renaturation
- Phytoremediation and microbiological remediation of polluted soils
- Liquid and solid waste water treatment and management
- Nature conservation
Current research projects
