Environment and Agro-biotechnologies (EVA)

Main axes of research

EVA has developed multidisciplinary expertise in environment and agro-biotechnologies, following 4 strategic lines of development and innovation:

  • the sustainable management of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems: ecology, ecotoxicology, microbiology, ecotechnologies, nature conservation, bioindication and biodiversity;
  • the application of biotechnologies in agricultural, wine-growing, horticultural and forestry sectors: plant biology, integrated agriculture, conservation of genetic resources, phytopathology, entomology, production of molecules that are of biomedical and nutritional interest, renewable energies, biomaterials;
  • the sustainable management of geohydrosystems and territory development: hydro-climatology, hydrogeology, pedology, bioclimatology, climatic change, natural risks, remote sensing, environmental modelisation, hydrogeochemistry, water, soil and air pollution;
  • nutrition and toxicology: food safety, nutritional quality, agro-food, environmental toxicology, public health.

Application domains

As EVA is a multidisciplinary department, it has many application domains such as: agriculture, forestry and horticulture (improvement of plant production, study of stresses, biodiversity, optimisation of biomass production systems, etc.), decision-making assistance for environmental issues, wastewater treatment, nature conservation, risk assessment,  management of natural resources, sustainable land-use management, remote sensing, food industry (food safety, environmental toxicology, nutritional quality of food, etc.).
