Luxembourg entities involved in space activities Different organisations are involved in space activities in Luxembourg: companies and research centres as well as the Ministry of the Economy. The Luxembourg Space Cluster and GLAE bring together all players to strengthen the national space sector. SPACE AFFAIRS IN LUXEMBOURG The Ministry of the Economy is in charge of space affairs in Luxembourg. The Ministry defines the national space policy, manages relationship with the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Union (EU) and space agencies worldwide and is responsible for all financial, political and programme matters related to ESA activities. In this role, the Ministry opens programme lines and supports the set-up of projects. The Ministry provides companies and research organisations with information on how ESA and the European Commission (EC) operate and on various approaches to be adopted according to the different programmes. It offers advice and support to entrepreneurs and researchers who wish to work with ESA throughout the whole participation process. The Ministry also advices companies wishing to come to Luxembourg to set-up their entity. Structures aggregating national players GLAE (Groupement Luxembourgeois de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace) was set up following Luxembourg's accession to ESA. Its objective is to provide a permanent link between its members, advising them and defending their shared professional, economic and social interests at national and international level. GLAE is a partner of the Government for initiatives taken by the authorities in the context of ESA programmes and the establishment of the Luxembourg space policy. National actors in the space sector More than 30 companies and 2 public organisations in Luxembourg are involved in space activities for a total headcount of about 700 people.
