Public research The Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) is the main funder of research activities in Luxembourg. Aiming to set up a sustainable world-class research system in Luxembourg, the FNR has put into place several research programmes and aid schemes. Key research funding programmes CORE is the central programme of the FNR. The objective of this multi-annual thematic research programme is to strengthen the scientific quality of Luxembourg's public research in priority research fields OPEN provides funding for a limited number of high-quality research projects in areas that are currently not covered by CORE. Its aim is to support established researchers to pursue high-quality, innovative research projects in emerging research fields in Luxembourg INTER is the FNR's main funding instrument to promote international research cooperation in order to give Luxembourg's public research a higher profile at the international level. The programme enables the FNR to initiate bi- or multilateral agreements for project calls in conjunction with funding bodies abroad Attracting excellent researchers and knowledge transfer professionals ATTRACT aims to attract outstanding young researchers with the potential to become leaders in their field of research to Luxembourg. The programme offers them the opportunity to set up their own research team within a public-sector research institution in Luxembourg PEARL offers research institutions attractive funding to enable them to attract internationally recognised senior researchers from abroad to Luxembourg KITS provides competitive funding to public research institutions in Luxembourg to attract and integrate highly-skilled professionals in the area of knowledge transfer Researcher support AFR PHD provides grants for PhD students carrying out their doctoral training. INDUSTRIAL FELLOWSHIPS supports researchers who carry out their PhD and/or postdoc training in collaboration with a company in Luxembourg PRIDE awards a block of PhD grants to a consortium of excellent researchers grouped around a coherent research and training programme INTER MOBILITY aims to promote the scientific exchange between research groups of the Luxembourg public research organisations and leading research groups abroad in order to foster innovative, internationally competitive research and support the exchange of key knowledge and technological know-how. From research to market BRIDGES provides financial support for industry partnerships between public research institutions in Luxembourg and companies with a presence in Luxembourg IPBG - Industrial Partnership Block Grant - aims to foster the cooperation between Luxembourg-based companies active in R&D and Luxembourg public research institutions. It awards a block allocation of PhD and/or Postdoc grants for companies taking the lead in setting up a research programme together with a public research organisation FNR JUMP - structured in two phases, Pathfinder (proof of market) and Proof of Concept, JUMP is a competitive funding programme, open to all research domains, that is designed to help bridge the technical and funding gap between research-driven discoveries and their commercialisation/utilisation Scientific culture RESCOM: Scientific Events supports communication between researchers to promote scientific outcomes and funds key international scientific conferences and lecture series RESCOM: Scientific Monographs aims to promote the publication of scientific monographs that make outstanding research results accessible to an interested audience and expand the frontiers of knowledge in that particular field OPEN ACCESS FUND promotes the free access to research results from FNR-(co)funded projects. The programme provides financial support to cover article processing charges or other costs that may arise through the publication of peer-reviewed research results in Open Access PSP-CLASSIC co-funds projects that allow lay audiences (general public, school children, educational personnel, etc.) to come into contact with science and research in an interactive way PSP-FLAGSHIP aims to set up long-term science outreach activities with a sustainable and lasting impact on the promotion of science to the general public in Luxembourg
