Economic activity areas Economic activity areas make plots of land or, in some cases, customised buildings, available for companies. The objective is to encourage and facilitate the establishment of companies in Luxembourg. National economic activity areas offer a complete infrastructure with facilities that are specifically adapted to the needs of industrial manufacturing companies. They are generally reserved for industrial manufacturing companies whose establishment will ensure the launching of new activities. Their activities should contribute towards diversifying the country's economy, without distorting competition with companies that do not enjoy the same favourable conditions. Facilities are available for both national and foreign investors. Companies wishing to set up business in a national park for economic activities should submit their investment projects to the Ministry of the Economy. Regional economic activity areas are public infrastructures made available to companies in the form of surface rights against payment of a fee to cover for the infrastructure costs. They can house light industrial activities and craft companies, both new ones and existing firms that are looking for new premises. The regional economic activity areas are managed by associations of communes. Applications to set up businesses in regional economic activity areas should be submitted to the association of communes in charge of the area concerned. Communal economic activity areas are public infrastructures made available to companies in the form of surface rights against payment of a fee to cover for the infrastructure costs. The eligible activities and the terms for setting up in a communal economic activity area are defined by the commune concerned. Interested businesses should contact the commune directly.
