Innovation and research are often considered vague concepts, relevant only to specialists and experts. These reflections are, however, untrue. On the contrary, innovation and research concerns everyone: thanks to research, numerous deadly diseases have been eradicated, and it is through innovation that we dispose of a number of products to facilitate our daily lives. This is why a number of initiatives have been put in place in Luxembourg in order to project innovation and research in another light and make it known to everybody.

The objective of this section is to present key initiatives and large events which aim to promote innovation, research and science to the general public. You will thus find:

• a section aimed at helping you understand innovation and research by explaining, in simple terms, what lies behind these concepts
• initiatives taken and associations established, in order to emphasise particular aspects pertaining to innovation and research: scientific associations (Amateur Astronomers, Luxembourg Association of Physicists), international scientific years
• Researchers’ Days and (other) periodic scientific events: scientific exhibitions in museums, conferences on specific subjects, etc promoting sciences and research and presenting a particular subject.
