Awards for researchers

Several awards are handed out in Luxembourg to acknowledge researchers (or research teams and institutions) for their work.

The National Research Fund (FNR) hands out awards on a yearly basis. These are called FNR Awards and are intended to acknowledge scientific publications as well as activities promoting scientific culture for their exceptional quality.

The Greater Region – the collaboration between Luxembourg, Wallonia and the German-speaking community (Belgium), Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) and Lorraine (France) – grants the Award for interregional research to reward a transnational research project encompassing several trans-border partners.

The "Grand Prix en sciences" of the Grand Ducal Institute is awarded yearly to a researcher for their life’s work or for an exceptional scientific discovery.
